About Us

Our Story

We are volunteer musicians dedicated to sharing our joy of music to foster a sense of well-being and enhance the daily lives of the elderly in our communities!

We partner with local senior living communities to support their residents in memory care units.

We are a non-profit organization that began in 2017 with a group of high school student volunteers from Weddington High School, led by our Executive Director, Olivia Anton.

WEDDINGTON HIGH SCHOOL CHORAL ENSEMBLE & MARCHING BAND

Located in Matthews, NC, WHS empowers students to meet their full potential so that they may become knowledgeable, responsible, ethical young adults who are prepared to meet life’s challenges and responsibilities. Leading a long tradition of excellence in the performing arts are Choral Director, Amanda McFarland-Weidman and Band Director, Mallory Hill who encourage their students to give back to their local community to become a part of something bigger than themselves.

WALTONWOOD MEMORY CARE
PROVIDENCE

Waltonwood Providence understands that providing comprehensive and quality care for those with dementia requires a special understanding of the daily difficulties associated with memory loss. Bethany DeGennaro, Life Enrichment Director, is committed to creating a calendar full of individual programs and small group activities that encourage participation in social interaction. The goal is to restore a resident’s sense of self and help them overcome the fearful anxiety of memory decline.

Olivia Anton
Executive Director

I founded NoteWorthy Volunteer Musicians in 2018, intending to use my high school chorus experiences to create community service opportunities for sharing the joy of music. The idea came to me after I watched a documentary called "Alive Inside," which discussed how music therapy could slow down the symptom progression of Alzheimer's disease.

I graduated from UNC-Wilmington with a BS in Biology and minors in Neuroscience and Psychology. While at UNCW, I worked in Dr. Rachel Kohman's Psychoneuroimmunology Lab, investigating the effects of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on learning and fear conditioning and the effects of repeated LPS exposure on immune response tolerance. I was a UNCW SURCA grant recipient and the music director for Seabelles, a Capella group.

Please join me in sharing the joy of music to serve others and create a sense of community!
